Bamboo Toothbrush Care & Disposal

General Care

We recommend storing your bamboo toothbrush in a dry area. Bamboo is a natural material that keeps best dry. Enclosed toothbrush cups that collect water are therefore not ideal. It’s best to keep your toothbrush in an open-air toothbrush holder or a similar dry place in your bathroom.

Bamboo is a natural woody material that will fade over time. The bamboo on the top portion of your toothbrush that goes in your mouth may begin to appear lighter and faded with use. This is normal! It will not affect your brushing experience.

You can wash and care for the soft charcoal infused bristles just like the bristles of a conventional toothbrush.

With proper care, our ecological bamboo toothbrush will last just as long as a conventional plastic toothbrush. Most dentists recommend replacing your toothbrush every 3 months or once the bristles have frayed.

Suggested Disposal

The nylon bristles are not biodegradable but are recyclable. The issue with recycling bristles is that they are very small and lightweight. Using pliers, it is easy to remove the bristles from the head. The bristles can then be included with other plastics in the recycling.

The bare toothbrush handle can be disposed of in a composting bin and will safely return to the soil within 6 months. However, the handle is a perfectly good piece of high quality bamboo – feel free to reuse it!

The outer box is also biodegradable and made from 100% recycled paper. You may find some creative uses for the box. Otherwise dispose of the box in a recycling or green waste bin.
