After slipping and dislocating a toe during practice using a cheap store-bought map, I decided to invest in a quality product. I looked around for a few weeks and decided on a Valka mat. This has been a great choice. Love the feel and comfort, as well as the stability of this mat. My confidence has returned and I am back in focus with my yoga.

The cork feels just lovely. I love the simplicity of the discreet brand at the bottom. Who wants to do yoga with names and advertising in their face? It happens to go splendidly in my yoga/lounge/reading room as a permanent mat. The service was swift and professional. When the mat I ordered online was actually not available in stock, I was promptly offered a mat of my choice from what was available. My only irk is that I would have liked it to be thicker and indeed was hoping it would be more cushioned if one can use such a term for a yoga mat.!
I have used this yoga mat for more than a year and found it just perfect for a heavy sweater like me. This is actually my second purchase, having brought my first one back to my home country to replace my older yoga mat made of rubber and jute which has crumbled away. I found the best condition to use this cork mat is in a warmer climate where the sweat really helps with my grip during my intense pilates sessions. However, during the colder seasons, I was not able to sweat enough to produce the grip so that's when I have to be more careful as it can be slippery. All in all, I thoroughly enjoy using it as it is also very easy to maintain and doesn't stink easily. I wish there will be a more lightweight version of this cork mat for me to take with me on my travels one day. Thank you, Valka Yoga for this wonderful product!

Using this mat feels almost luxurious on the feet, so soft but firm, and it stops me worrying about my dodgy knees because it feels so much nicer than a normal mat. Thank you for making this

I love the cork and rubber as it's really hard to buy eco-friendly products. Everything is much easier when you're on a great surface.
I love this yoga mat. My priority was to support a local kiwi business that put sustainability first, and then choose a mat that I liked. Luckily I hit the jackpot with Valka yoga. The brand is ethical, sustainable and high quality. I wasn’t looking for a yoga mat this thick originally but I’m so glad it is. I also got a carrying bag as well as a strap which is so handy for storage. It’s heavier than my old cheap mat but I’m so excited that this one should last me for years and is better for the environment.

I noticed the thicker spongy feel of this mat straight away. I felt more sure of my footing with it's secure grip when striking poses. It is a bit heavier to carry + I'm getting used to it's rubber smell when in close contact. All together the best yoga mat I've ever had, so inspiring for my practice!

Originally bought the grand yoga mat and yoga block.- then found that the mat wasn't the best mat for me due to my soft hands and to be a not sweaty yogini. I do Ashtanga yoga at home as well as taking my mat down to exercise at my local community gym. I have used my mat every day since it arrived in the mail and I love it. I love the feel of the cork and there is just the right amount of support in the mat for comfort and yet to still be able to keep the balance. So happy that I chose the Valka mat.

Loving the soft feel of this natural cork mat. Very pleased with this purchase which along with the blocks purchased will be used by guests at our Fruit Forest studio. It was used this morning at a local yoga class and exceeded expectations.
Very spoilt that this is my first yoga mat experience. I’d been using a beach towel or a foam underlay since starting on my yoga journey this year and have found the quality and experience of using this mat to be fantastic. The cork feels amazing on the skin which is especially appreciated during shavasana! I have a bad knee from a judo injury and have trouble with any kneeling on hard surfaces so was sceptical the mat alone could provide enough cushioning. I was very (pleasantly) surprised to find I could comfortably support my body weight on the one knee without pain or discomfort. Other reviewers noted an odour to the mat which I was slightly concerned about but having used it everyday (and having many opportunities to breathe in the mat!) I personally find the smell quite nice. It’s a slightly sharp woodsy scent which I find oddly soothing... The customer service is the cherry on top here at Valka Yoga with Danny’s response to feedback or queries being quick, friendly and empathetic. I hope VY will be around when it comes time to replace my mat!

So many years I've I've enjoyed occasional yoga etc, but always been hindered by stretchy sliding mats....why did I not find these cork mats sooner?! I love this yoga mat! It is the best one I’ve ever used especially compared to all the plastic ones. It’s great this product is available in NZ, and providing an alternative to all those slippery plastic mats. The mat has great cushioning and is a great length for yoga and Pilates.
